The nursing pillow can be used during pregnancy for back support when you need a break. It's also great for supporting your belly or placing it between your knees to help you sleep and find a comfortable resting position.
When your baby is a newborn, the nursing pillow becomes an essential support during breastfeeding or bottle feeding. It helps prevent neck and shoulder strain by allowing you to adjust the pillow according to your needs.
The practical tie straps ensure the pillow stays securely around your waist, providing a sense of security and control. This is particularly helpful when moving your baby from, for example, the crib to feeding. The straps are also convenient when you're on the go. Tie them into a bow, and sling the pillow over your shoulder or hang it on the pram handle.
The size and shape of the nursing pillow mean you won't need to move it when switching sides, and if you're lucky enough to have twins, there's room for both at the same time.
The nursing pillow is not just for feeding. It can also be used as a baby seat in the first months, for back and neck muscle training, or even as a decorative cushion on the sofa.
The filling of the nursing pillow is kapok, a silky-soft natural fibre that contains a naturally occurring antibacterial bitter compound, making it impossible for dust mites to thrive. This makes kapok an ideal material for allergy sufferers. Kapok is also breathable and temperature-regulating.
When you wash a kapok product, it will always change a little. Therefore, we advise that you only wash your kapok product if it's absolutely necessary.
If you want to freshen it up a bit, we recommend hanging it outside in the fresh air. If there's a stain on the product, you can gently spot-clean it to avoid getting the whole product wet.
If washing your kapok product is unavoidable, following the washing and drying instructions is crucial.
Washing
- Always wash the product separately and only at 40 degrees to protect the kapok fibres.
- Choose a short wash cycle and avoid extra washing or soaking, which can damage the kapok fibres.
- Choose a wash cycle with extra spin or run an extra spin (preferably 1,200 revolutions) after washing to get as much water out as possible before drying.
- Use a gentle detergent without bleach or enzymes. Do not use fabric softener.
Drying
- Immediate drying after washing is crucial to maintaining the quality of your Sebra Kapok product. Kapok fibres tend to clump when wet but regain their fluffiness when dried, according to the instructions. Be aware that drying kapok fibres takes time, so expect it to take up to 4 hours in the dryer.
- Dry the product by itself in the tumble dryer.
- Select a medium heat cycle and dry for approximately 30 minutes at a time, then check the product to see how far along the drying process is. If the fibres are clumping together, continue drying the product in the dryer. Give the product a good shake to help distribute the fibres evenly.
- Once your Sebra product is slightly damp, remove it from the dryer and let the remaining moisture evaporate by placing it vertically in a warm spot, such as a room with floor heating on a drying rack.
- Using wool dryer balls in the dryer can be beneficial, as they help to separate the kapok fibres and prevent clumping. Do not use tennis balls!
The nursing pillow is designed in Denmark, and the cover is made from organic cotton that can be washed at 60°C. Its high-quality fabric is durable enough to withstand many washes and be passed down to future siblings.
